Despite loads -- and I mean LOADS -- of airtime dedicated to educating viewers about the upcoming DTV transition, the analog armageddon may be delayed four months.

On Monday, the US Senate voted unanimously to delay the pending February 17 switch four months to June 12, 2009. The "DTV Delay Act" will now head to the House and could be voted on as early as Tuesday.

FCC prepares for "messy" DTV switch

I'm not one who likes to say, "I told you so," but this would certainly be a situation that calls for it.

An official over at the FCC says that the pending Digital Television change-over is going to be "messy," something I've been anticipating for months now.

The end of the analog age is approaching as the DTV switch, scheduled for February 2009, nears. And still it seems that most people aren't getting the message... or are failing to understand it.

What it boils down to is this: If you are a cable or satellite subscriber, or if you bought your TV in the last couple of years... nothing happens on February 17, 2009, other than the sun rising, then setting. Yet somehow neither the FCC nor NAB have been able to convey this message to consumers.
