With the series' director Sam Raimi already on-board, Sony may have snagged the title character for the next installments in the 'Spider-Man' series.

London's Sunday Times is reporting that Tobey Maquire will reprise his role as "your friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man" for the series' fourth and fifth films.
According to the report, Maquire will earn around $50 million, shooting both films over a period of six months. Shooting multiple films at one time is a growing Hollywood trend - the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy as well as the final two films in both the 'Matrix' and 'Pirates of the Carribbean' series were filmed at the same time.

Following the completion of 'Spider-Man 3,' Sony made it's committment to carry the series through six films. Raimi later expressed his interest in directing the remaining chapters, though many thought the lead roles would be recast.

If Maquire is in fact back in the title role, eyes would turn to Kirsten Dunst, and whether she would return as Mary Jane Watson.
