Looks like Packer Nation wasn't the only group left reeling as Brett Favre packed his bags for New York. EA Sports is scrambling to figure out what to do with Madden 09, which features Favre in green-and-yellow glory on its cover.
But, unlike everyone else involved in the Favre fiasco, EA has a plan of action.
MTV is reporting that the game will hit stores with
Favre as a Packer. An immediate, downloadable roster update will make
the Green Bay legend a member of the J-E-T-S. They will not be re-issuing the game with updated packaging - the solution here is a bit of DIY. A download from EAsports.com will allow fans to print out their own cover featuring Favre as a Jet.
Madden 09 will be released August 11th for Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox, PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS.
Now, if EA's marketing crew had been running the Packer's front office, maybe this whole crisis could have been avoided.
