Most late night talk shows originate from LA or NY... how about Bristol, CT? Sports giant ESPN is reportedly courting hosts for a new late night talk show.
Tops on ESPN's list are Colin Cowherd, from ESPN radio; Dan LeBatard, a columnist from the Miami Herald; and Jason Whitlock, a sports writer from the Kansas City Star.
Not exactly a list that's ready to hang with the likes of Leno and Letterman. Which is good, because they've all reacted with relative disinterest to ESPN's offer.
Drawing from their own stable of sports journalists, other options include ESPN.com columnist Bill Simmons and Sports Illustrated defector Rick Reilly.
No matter who ESPN chooses (or who chooses ESPN, it would seem) they'll not have too large of shoes to fill -- Steven A. Smith's "Quite Frankly," ESPN's first attempt at late night talk, went bust after a year and a half on the air.
