I enjoy comic book movies. I see nearly every one of them and they account for a large slice of my DVD collection. So don't take this next sentence lightly.

The Dark Knight is the best comic book film ever made.
I caught my first screening at 10 AM on 7/18. It's an odd time to see a movie, I know, but that didn't deter me from being thoroughly captivatedby Christopher Nolan's second Caped Crusader offering. I leapt at the chance to see it again, this time Saturday night at 7 PM -- a more "normal" time to hit the theater. My second serving of Dark Knight only reaffirmed what I had already concluded:

The Dark Knight is the best comic book film ever made.

This movie blew me away, Every facet was outstanding -- the direction, the acting, the writing -- everything. I knew Heath Ledger would be fantastic as the Joker (he was -- justifying all the Oscar talk), but I was floored by Aaron Eckhart's turn at Harvey Dent/Two-Face and Christian Bale is now, without a doubt, the best Bruce Wayne/Batman to appear on film.

The Nolan brothers crafted a beautiful story, breathing life into Gotham, weaving themes of morality and choice into a film that works on level no other film in this genre would dare reach. As if their work on Momento and The Prestige weren't enough, Nolan now belongs alongside Wachowski and Coen as the top movie-making siblings in Hollywood.

The Denouement:

ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL for every man, woman and child with a pulse. If you haven't seen this movie, see it now, right now.... and take me with you.
